Who We Are
Junior Achievement's Purpose:
Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy.
Junior Achievement USA reaches over 4.6 million U.S. students in more than 201,444 classrooms and after-school locations.
Our volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. With the help of more than 213,000 volunteers, JA students develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and entrepreneurship in the 21st century global marketplace.
Locally...Junior Achievement of East Texas was established in Longview in 1980 by the combined efforts of the Education Committee of the Sales and Marketing Executives of East Texas and the Youth Activities Committee of the Longview Chamber of Commerce.
A 20-member board of directors made up of local business leaders, community leaders and educators govern JA of East Texas. These volunteers oversee the funding and operation of JA of East Texas. Funds are generated through donations, grants and through special event fund raising events.
JA of East Texas serves a 9 county area. Each area is independently funded by their local communities and is directed by a local Advisory Board. School Districts served are Central, Dibol, Hallsville, Henderson, Hudson, Huntington, Kilgore, Liberty Eylau, Lone Oak, Longview, Lufkin, Marshall, Pine Tree, Pleasant Grove, Queen City, Spring Hill, Texarkana and Zavalla.
